It is an embracing space where members can discuss various aspects of living in Kunming, including local events, cultural experiences, language learning, housing, job opportunities, etc. This group responded to all my burning questions about work permits, job possibilities, and most bothering insects so that I could bring all preventive stuff from Europe, apartment search, and even metro lines.

The Charms of Kunming: A Worry-Free Heaven
When writing this article, I hadn’t personally visited Kunming. Therefore, I had to rely on visually appealing images I found online. However, to fully convince me to move with my husband to Kunming, I desired to hear about the actual experiences of other expatriates. During my online search, I found a lovely couple with nothing but positive feedback about Kunming.
The Filipino-Chinese ex-pat couple lived in Kunming for 20 months and shared Ian and Mar chose Kunming to study Mandarin because it was more affordable than Beijing and Shanghai. They also did some travel, including crossing the China-Vietnam border. This ex-pat couple describes Kunming as a charming city and one of the best cities they have lived in, with plenty of extra time and a carefree lifestyle.
While my husband obtained a Z visa, I will accompany him with an S1 visa. However, once I secure a satisfying job, I prefer to remain content and enjoy the surroundings like Ian and Mar did.
